Gabriel Fauré's Requiem
Join Concert Choir and University Chorus for a concert featuring the composition of Gabriel Fauré's Requiem in collaboration with the Emory University Orchestra. Fauré's Requiem is unique compared to other Requiems for having been composed within the period from 1887 to 1890; and different in essence compared to other compositions of the Mass for the Dead due to its peaceful and meditative nature. As opposed to other Requiems, which emphasize judgment and dread, Fauré's composition offers consolation and peace with a hint of eternity in it, with a conclusion in the bright In Paradisum movement. Famous for its heavenly harmonies, exquisite lyricism and deep emotionality, Fauré's masterpiece is one of the best pieces in the choral-orchestral repertoire.
